Natives for Green Roofs
In recent years the interest in green roofs has exploded in the United States. Although the interest in native plants has also surged, their use in green roof applications is still in its infancy.
We are actively supporting these trends by offering native plants suitable for green roofs. By using natives, rather than the traditional non-native sedums, green roofs serve additional ecological purposes, such as supporting unique species of pollinators, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Native plants must be carefully matched to the planting media, irrigation system (if present), and characteristics of the roof, such as heat and wind exposure.
In addition to currently available species, we continue to develop a more diverse plant palette and ways to improve the effectiveness of green roof plantings. Get in touch with us to learn more.
